This very simple dessert was one of my husband’s favorites growing up. He always says it was his mom’s way of tricking the kids into eating apples because it is delicious.
You will need:
- one container of whipped cream
- 6 apples (3 granny smith and 3 red ones of your preference. I have a soft spot for Gala apples.)
- a couple of candy bars of your choice (it is typical made with Snickers or Butterfinger)
Freeze your candy bars. When they are frozen, unwrap them and place them in a plastic bag. Smash the candy bars up with a hammer or other object.
Dice the apples up into small pieces, put the small pieces of apple and candy bar together in a bowl. Mix in the container of whipped cream and you have a simple, delicious dessert, that apparently tricks kids into eating apples. 🙂

I love this salad, in all of its forms. My SIL makes it with Snickers cut in cubes, apples, and grapes, and then covered with yogurt. Either way, it gets kids to eat their fruits! Genius.

Yummy salad! My kids don't have a hard time eating fruit. Now, if you had a dish like this that would hide vegetables… that would be amazing!

I really like this idea. I'm not a huge fan of apples. My husband loves Granny Smith, and my daughters love Fuji. I don't think it would matter which one I used, though, cause no would would notice with the chocolate in there. Yum!

Once upon a time, my friend and I went to EFY and we had a salad that I'm pretty sure was just like this one. We thought it was the craziest, best thing ever. I just got a letter in the mail from my high school English teacher that included the life list I wrote as a senior, and it included finding the recipe to that salad. In other words, dear friend, you have just allowed me to check something off my life list. 🙂
