This is a recipe as old as time. Okay, maybe not as old as time, but it’s old. It’s also a quick fix when you just don’t feel like making something ultra fancy.
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
8-oz. sour cream
6-8 mushrooms, sliced
Rice
Brown the ground beef in a frying pan, making sure to crumble the meat. Drain the excess fat. Add the cream of mushroom soup and the sour cream. You may want to add more or less sour cream, depending on how smooth and creamy you want to make it. Stir in the fresh mushrooms and let it simmer for 7-10 minutes. Serve on a bed of rice.
This meal really shines if you sprinkle some nutmeg on top of the stroganoff. However, if you do not have nutmeg, paprika is a good substitute.
I make something similar with brown gravy! I'll have to try this! Thanks!
