I love Christmas. I am all about the traditions of Christmas. The tree, the lights, I love it all. It wasn’t until my daughter started to get a little older that I began to worry that she was seeing the tree, the lights, the candy canes and not seeing Christ. We have always read the Luke 2 on Christmas Eve and participated in several live nativities but I was afraid she was still seeing Santa as the theme for Christmas.
Last year, my best friend Lorene, wrote about post about a Christ Centered Christmas Advent for Children. She has stumbled onto these gorgeous advent kits from 25 Days of Christ, but they happened to be out of stock, so she improvised. Doing that advent made such a difference in our family. Christmas became about Christ in the eyes of my children instead of frills. After reading how the idea for 25 Days of Christ came about, I knew this was exactly what we needed. It was like she read my mind, so when we got the chance to have our own kit this year, we jumped at it.
The kit comes with everything you need to create your Christ Centered Advent. It requires simple crafting, something my 6-year-old has been delighted to help with. We have been creating 1-5 ornaments a day, so we are ready for the Christmas season. Each day in December before Christmas has an ornament to hang on your tree and then the devotional booklet has a short devotional to share with your children that includes scriptures and quotes. I cannot wait to make this our new Christmas tradition. My children will grow hearing the stories of Jesus at Christmas time and that makes my heart so happy.
I LOVE THIS!!! I want to win. lol
My favorite tradition is watching White Christmas and other Christmas movies as a family.
Katie is my brothers sister in law! Love the 25 days of Christ Kit!!
I really want one of these!!! Thank you for the chance to win! my favorite tradition is decorating the tree!
I have had the same feelings about my daughters and this would be the perfect way to have a more Christ centered holiday!
My favorite Christmas tradition is making trays and delivering them to friends and neighbors!
I would love this! My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating our Christmas tree 🙂
What a great tradition. Would love to have this in my home. Thanks
Love this!! OUr favorite tradition is setting 'traps' for the elves!
I love this idea. We have a Christ advent for Easter but I would love to have something for Christmas. Our newest tradition was cinnamon roll french toast for breakfast. It was super delicious! Maybe this year we will add fresh strawberries, mmmm.
Honestly it's keeping Christ in Christmas and being with my kids! I REALLY want to win!!!!!
I like decorating with figurines and ornaments the most.
Oh, I love this! I was just showing my husband Lego, schleich, and playmobile advent calendars last week, and he kindly reminded me of two years ago when we bought the Little People Nativity set and I wrapped each piece with a scripture verse for the kids to open each night. They absolutely loved it, and it helped maintain such a sweet spirit in our home as we kept our focus on Christ. This is precisely what we need. Thank you!
Oh, and one of my favorite Christmas traditions is reading Christmas stories each night around the tree. 🙂
Christmas is the favorite holiday around our house. My favorite traditions are lighting the advent candles and reading Christmas books each night. I'm always on the lookout for anything that would bring more focus to Christ, so this would be awesome!
I love so many things about Christmas! One of my favorite things is Advent Calendars!
I totally need this. I've wanted to do something like this for years, but this is way cooler than what I would've done!
Favorite Chrstmas tradition would have to be Christmas music. We have many family favorites from cranking up any of the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas albums – so loud we can't hear the doorbell or the phone. Or weeping at the tender carols about Joseph (It Wasn't His Child or Mercy Me's rendition of Joseph's Lullaby) I simply adore Joseph – what an awesome man. Or enjoying old classics from New Christy Minstrels – I try really hard to not play them before October – but don't be surprised if you hear them in July or August 😉 Thanks for the opportunity.
Making traditional christmas sweets.
