If you love to read there is a good chance that you have an impressive book collection that you would like to show off. But how can you keep your books looking good and keep them in good condition for years to come? Here are some ideas for storing your books that will work for any book collection.
Themed bookshelf
A bookshelf is probably one of the obvious ways to display your books but have you thought about how you will display them? Instead of having every book you own plonked on the shelf, you could display a small collection. This could be the Harry Potter books with a couple of Wizard World accessories. Or a Terry Pratchett collection with a figure of Death (if you don’t know, Death is a big character in the Discworld novels). Think about what goes on in the books and add some items that reflect the story as part of the display. It can make a great talking point and an interesting display.

Shaped Bookshelves
Another brilliant way to use your books as decor is to fill a shaped shelf full of books.

Floating Bookshelves
Floating shelves are decor and storage! Bonus points for being an amazing conversation starter as well.
Tucked away
If you have a lot of books and you like the idea of the themed shelf, what do you do with the rest of your books? Excellent question, you put them away. Of course, you can’t put them into storage because it would make swapping the theme shelf very difficult. If you can, buy chest of drawers online at best prices and you can have your collection handy when it is time to swap out the theme shelf for a new collection. You can even keep the figures and accessories tucked away safely with the books to make the swap out really easy. And, if you don’t have a shelf, the top of the unit can act as a bookshelf.

Big bookcase (with ladder of course)
Who doesn’t want to be Belle? Live every bookworm’s dream and install a bookshelf with a ladder. If you have more books and the collection keeps growing, you might need to expand to a big bookcase. Again, you could create a theme shelf or two for a bit of fun. Or you could just fill it up with all of your books. The problem with big bookcases is that they collect dust and this can be hard to remove from the books. If you can, get some doors added on to protect the paper. You could even use old wardrobes and have them fitted with extra shelves instead of hanging rails, and have glass panels added to the doors so that you can see your books inside.
Under the bed
So, you have a couple of themed bookshelves, packed a chest of drawers with paperbacks, and the hallway is running out of room for bookcases. Now, you need to get creative. If there is one place that is perfect for a book collection, it is under your bed. A lot of bed come with storage that isn’t used to its full potential. Storing your books under the bed can help you clear some space and use the bed in a different way. Under the bed is great if you have big books that won’t fit in a bookcase and are too heavy to sit on the shelf on the wall.
