Frozen Sister Shirts

September 2, 2014 by Wifeeclectic 27 Comments

I was given the Heat Transfer Vinyl to create this shirt. All opinions and instructions are 100% my own.

I think one of the reasons that Frozen has taken the world by storm is the focus on the sister angle. You may being have a great time with your sister, currently frustrated with her or down right upset at her, but the one thing never changes. You love your sister. You can usually relate to both sisters, Elsa, trying so hard to keep Anna safe by staying away and Anna, trying so hard to help her sister when she needs her. The best part of our childhoods are often our sisters, I know it was mine.
When we found out that our second baby was another girl, I have never been more thrilled in my life. If there was one thing I hope for, for my 5-year-old it was a sister. You can find friends like that. I may be a little obsessed with dressing them in sister themed clothes. I only have so long before they rebel against me and insist on picking their own clothes.

These simple shirts are made using Expressions Vinyl heat transfer and a cutting machine. When I ordered vinyl, I tend to order a lot of white and black vinyl and then I used the shirt itself to add a little bit of color.

For these shirts you will need:
White Heat Transfer
Black Heat Transfer
Shirts for the sisters in your life
an iron and cutting machine

Feed the Heat Transfer into your cutting machine with the shiny carrier sheet down, making sure the heat transfer is under both rollers, so it doesn’t slide around, or is on a cutting mat. Remember to flip any words/images you are cutting on heat transfer. The images in the attached file have been pre-flipped.
Weed out the image and letters. Repeat for the other shirt.

Set your iron to the cotton setting on your iron (or about 305 degrees) Preheat the area of the shirt you want to place your vinyl for about 3 seconds then place the heat transfer on the t-shirt with the right side facing up. Using medium pressure, iron the entire image for about 30 seconds, directly onto the carrier sheet, without any steam. After you finish, I like to flip my shirt over and iron for another 10 seconds from the back. Allow the shirt to cool (allowing the vinyl to cool is my personal preference) and then peel the carrier sheet off. If any parts of the image pull up when removing the carrier sheet, stop peeling and iron for a few more seconds in that spot.

You are so talented! I am very intimidated by the whole vinyl process. Is there a way you can show more details of how you did it? Super cute idea for sisters!!
