Homemade Italian Cream Sodas

One of my favorite traditions every year is our Valentine’s Day Dinner. After years of waiting in lines for ages at restaurants and struggling to find sitters on Valentine’s Day, we threw our hands up and decided to have an epic meal at home instead. Our meal usually consists of lobster tails, steak, garlic mashed potatoes, rolls and Italian Cream Sodas. All homemade of course. There is something so fun about making an elaborate meal and then enjoying it all together.

Homemade Italian Cream Sodas

My kids favorite part of the meal are these cream sodas. I have been making them since I was a kid and I love being able to share one of my favorite traditions with my little ones. Of course, when I was a kid we made them for birthdays, but I think Valentine’s Day needed a little something extra.

You will need:

  • Tall Glasses
  • Ice
  • Torani Flavored Syrup (these are usually by the coffee)
  • Half and Half
  • Sparkling Water or Club Soda
  • Cherries
  • Whipped Cream

In each glass put a handful of ice cubes, then add a cup and a half of club soda and 6-7 TBSP of flavor syrup. My girls like the strawberry syrup best, but for some reason raspberry is the easiest to find.

I like to  mix the syrup and then add 3 TBS of Half and Half to the picture. Do not mix this in. It will settle in all by itself.

Finish the glass with some whipped cream and a cherry and you have the perfect treat for Valentine’s Day or any day!

Can you alter the recipe for a lighter less sugary option?

I haven't had one of these in years and years – but I remember it being delicious! Will have to keep an eye out for the syrups (which has always been one of the hangups for them, I've never seen those for a reasonable price!).
