Making Macaroni and Cheese in the Instant Pot is less about saving time and more about creating a creamy delicious macaroni that is infused with flavor. It is so easy! You are mostly just dumping and pouring, and it creates a meal that is delicious and is soon to be a family favorite!
We always add diced ham to our Macaroni and Cheese, but my sister’s family always adds hot dogs and I have a friend that always adds broccoli. You can really modify this delicious recipe to make it your own without too much effort!

You will need:
- 1 box of elbow macaroni (16 oz)
- 3 Tbs of butter, cut into tiny pieces
- 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups of shredded cheese (we love Colby Jack, but Cheddar is great too!)
- 4 cups of water
- diced ham
Pour the water and the macaroni into your instant pot. Add the salt and butter piece and stir. Cook the pasta on manual for 4 minutes. When the timer goes off, do a manual quick release. When the pressure is done, set the pot to saute. Add the whipping cream while stirring the noodles. Add the cheese half a cup at a time and stirring until melted after each one. After the cheese is all melted, add your diced ham. If your ham is cold, allow the ingredients to saute together for a few minutes until the ham warms up. If the ham is already warm you can serve it immediately.

Obviously, you don’t have to add the ham to this meal, but it really takes it to another level! Paired with the creamy, delicious macaroni and cheese, it is the perfect dinner.
