Quiet Book Tutorial – Crayons and Notebook Color Page

Here is the next page, in my daughter’s quiet book. The coloring page. I got my original idea for this page here from At Second Street and then I tweaked it to fit me. My little girl loves to color and I knew this page would go a long way in keeping her quiet.

You need:
1 full sheet of felt
1 half sheet of felt
crayons
notepad

Measure your felt sheet. Plan to cover about one third of it with the crayon bottom. Cut about two inches off your half sheet and then sew it to the bottom of the full sheet.Mark lines for the crayons and sew up each line. I found that I could sew pockets for 8 of the jumbo crayons across the bottom. Sew the leftover half sheet across the middle of the page so you can slide a notepad in it.
What I would do differently if I were to do it again: I would sew the strip horizontally instead of vertically. I think the notepad would stay a little better. I would also sew my pockets to fit the crayola twist crayons because that is what I prefer my daughter color with. I love this page and actually want to make some small books with just this as the element.

Ability: This page can be done by the most beginning sewer and can be done in just a few minutes time.
