The Nightmare Before Christmas Tree Snake

Housewife Eclectic: Nightmare Before Christmas Tree Snake

Last year when I first spray painted my Christmas tree black and turned it into a Nightmare Before Christmas tree, I knew I needed a Christmas tree snake. The problem was, I was having trouble tracking down a pool noodle that time of year. This summer, I was prepared! I made sure I had just what I needed to make this snake a dream come to life. This is a fairly easy project and every Nightmare Before Christmas fan needs one!

You will need:

  • a pool noodle
  • a pair of orange and black striped tights
  • hot glue
  • scissors
  • a pringles can
  • large google eyes
  • tinsel garland
  • small Christmas ornaments

I have linked to the tights I bought above, but any orange and black tights should work. You just want to make sure they are women’s tights and not little girls, so you have enough length.

Cut the tights off at the top where the stripes stop. Pull each leg of the tights over each end of your pool noodle. The tights should be just long enough to overlap a little bit in the middle. Hot glue the seam to each other and the noodle.

Rinse and dry you Pringles can. Cut off the end of your can and make sure it fits over your pool noodle.

Cut the mouth out of your can, but cutting a skinny triangle out of each side of the Pringles can, like below.

Cover the can with the leftover nylon left from the top of the tights, using hot glue to keep it in place.

Stuff the mouth of your snake with the silver tinsel garland, spreading it out to look more like a Christmas tree. Then add red small ornaments.

You can put the snake at the base of your Christmas tree or display it on its own! Either way, it is the perfect decoration for both Halloween and Christmas!
